PAPAGAYO: Located at the extreme south of the island just north of the town of Playa Blanca. This beach is noted for its wide sandy shores and sparkling crystal waters.
PLAYA BLANCA: Once a sleepy fishing village, it is now a major resort area with a scenic seafront walk, excellent restaurants of various cuisines and bars - all with views to the sea. Ferries for Fuerteventura leave from here.
PUERTO CALERO: A beautiful Marina, with shops and Restaurants to the South of Puerto del Carmen.
PUERTO DEL CARMEN: This is the main tourist area of Lanzarote. Once a small fishing village it now has one casino, 12 kilometres of beaches, shops, bars and restaurants in profusion.
TIMANFAYA "The Fire Mountain": - The 51 square kilometres of lava fields and volcanic craters have been made a national park. On the top of one of the volcanoes is a restaurant where the meals are cooked on the heat emanating from its interior. An air -conditioned bus takes visitors on a short, multi-lingual tour of the park.
TEGUISE: The former capital of the island has many beautiful buildings dating from the colonial period of Spain's history; the church of San Miguel, the Castle of Guanapay and the Palacio Spinola number among them. On Sunday the town hosts a lively market.
YAIZA: This town, lying in the interior of the island, was winner of a contest for the most beautiful village in the Canaries. There are a number of traditional cafes and restaurants as well as a number of architecturally appealing buildings.
ORZOLA: A quaint fishing village is located at the northern most tip of the island at the end of a scenic drive. This is where the ferry departs twice daily for the island of La Graciosa and where the famous fish restaurant "Charco Viejo" is located.
